DIVERGENT THINKING
FOOD PORN IN FILMS
The movies in the Food and Film course syllabus were the catalyst to explore a variety of themes not only related to food imagery, but also to cultural and ethnic traditions in the contemporary world. I felt compelled to write about Food Pornography
(colloquially known as “Food Porn”), which was a common theme running throughout most of the films that we watched in this class. This unifying thread offered me the opportunity to think critically about the different sub-genres within the Food and Film
genre. LEARN MORE.

REEL WORLD CARTOON
One of the assignments in the Reel World class challenged my creative abilities. Not only did I analyze the Hollywood's portrayal of Arabs in the 1940 Porky Pig "Ali-Baba Bound" cartoon, but I rewrote it by reversing the roles of the main characters. LEARN MORE

WOMEN & PATÉ
My research project in the Food and Film class was not only an invitation to recreate my aunt's traditional paté recipe, but enough motivation to conduct some research on the role of female chefs in contemporary media. If you "dip" your cursor in the pate below, you will find more about my project.

The essay I wrote in the Age of Revolutions course intends to describe one of the most prolific and innovative companies whose actions have revolutionized and transformed society and commerce: Amazon. Drawing on my research and personal experience, this essay is an invitation to describe a revolutionary phenomenon that touches our lives every day and one that the reader can easily relate to. THE BRAIN GPS
Out of the 864 individuals, only 48 Nobel Prize awards have gone to women from around the world between 1901 and 2016. May-Britt Moser has been the 11th woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Women’s contribution to science was also a motivating factor to start my research for the final paper in the Science Through Nobel Laureates course. Fortunately, May-Britt lives in an era where women’s scientific discoveries are not only appreciated and embraced, but also rewarded for their contribution in their scientific field.
