RESEARCH PAPER

Despite the vast array of psychological, physical, and cultural factors, any adult can successfully acquire a second language. Becoming literate in a globally connected world makes the learning process much more gratifying. Traditional literacies characterized for being text-based, limited, and static have shifted into dynamic learning experiences where new information is contextualized and offered through an array of genres (visual images, sounds, gestures, etc.) and multimodalities.

This essay intends to describe and analyze not only the perpetuating multiple-forms of media myths surrounding second language acquisition (SLA) during adulthood, but how contemporary media literacies have facilitated adults to be successful second language learners.
